A pair of scrub fires near the Daisy Hardwick walkway kept firefighters busy for about half-an-hour yesterday afternoon.

Tauranga Fire Brigade were called to the reserve around 4.30pm with plumes of smoke seen coming from the reserve.

Northern Fire Communications shift commander Megan Ruru confirms there were two different fires next to the rugby field, off Darraghs Road in Brookfield.

Video footage sent in by a SunLive reader shows the two fires in close proximity with fire fighters arriving promptly. A number of onlookers can also be seen nearby.

One fire engine was required to put the fires out.
