Phil Rudd back in court

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is back in the Tauranga High Court today facing threatening to kill and drug related charges.

The 60-year-old is facing one charge of threatening to kill, along with single charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis.

Phil Rudd on his last appearance in court on November 6.

The drummer and Tauranga businessman was arrested after police raided his Bureta home on the morning of November 6 following information from a member of the public.

He appeared in Tauranga District Court on the same day accused of attempting to procure the murder of two people, as well as the charges he still faces.

The more serious charge that police laid was withdrawn the day after his first court appearance, after Crown solicitor Greg Hollister-Jones reviewed the police file against Rudd and the available evidence to support the charge.

Paul Mabey, QC, Rudd's defence lawyer, said at the time Rudd has suffered unnecessary and extremely damaging publicity as a result of widespread and sensational reporting of a very serious allegation, which on any basis was never justified.
