These projects include the Thames Youth Forum, SKaR (Strong, Kind and Respectful) Project, Thames South School's Jacobs Ladder project and the Value 4 Youth project.

Thames-Coromandel District Council Chief Executive David Hammond says the local young people put their best foot forward during the visit.

'The Minister was very impressed with the joint initiatives between Youth Forum, TYC and SKAR and that Thames Youth had many initiatives which are innovative and well thought through.”

The group of young people were also given the chance to discuss their perspective on the projects and to ask the minister questions during a one-on-one between Nikki and local MP Scott Simpson.

The one-on-one was facilitated by TYC committee members Darian Lunjevich-West and Shayne Hill.

Nikki also endorsed and encouraged the young people for their leadership abilities which will put them in good stead for their future life.
