Mount Hot Pools set for summer

The pools are being filled and the soothing temperatures are set to rise as Mount Hot Pools prepare to re-open their doors this weekend.

This Saturday the iconic hot pools will be open to the public once again after closing for general maintenance this month.

The Mount Hot Pools will re-open on Saturday after a four-week refurbishment.

Since November 3 the usually tranquil venue has seen a flurry of work and maintenance, including re-grouting all of the pools, painting the toddlers' pool, upgrading the private pool lighting and general venue painting.

Contractors have also been fibre-glassing pool inlets, replacing the electrical switchboard and servicing the sea water pumps in the pump room.

Bay Leisure and Events chief executive Gary Dawson says the planned maintenance has run smoothly, with everything on track for re-opening this Saturday.

'It's been pretty good particularly with the weather, which has helped,” he says.

'I'm told that it's all on track to open at the scheduled time.”

November was set down for maintenance at the 40-year-old facility because it is deemed one of the quieter months ahead of the imminent tourist season.

The hot pools has an annual patronage of more than 220,000 people.
