Blustery spring weather continues

It might be a humid start to the working week, but keep an eye out for the occasional burst of rain and blustery northwest winds.

An active front is expected to move up from the South Island, bringing rain with it once again before weakening as it makes its way over the North Island on Wednesday and Thursday.

This week's humid start will make way for rain over the next few days.

MetService Meteorologist Elke Louw says the windy spring weather is set to continue this week, with several fronts bringing bouts of rain and warm temperatures with blustery northwest winds in the east.

Tauranga is forecast for fine spells and a northwest breeze on Tuesday before brief showers begin to appear on Wednesday and Thursday.

The city is aiming for a high or 23 degrees and a low of 16.

Elke says it has been a humid couple of days in many parts of the North Island, but a change to colder southwesterlies is expected towards the end of the week.

'You might just want to keep that warm jumper handy,” says Elke.

Maximum temperatures are expected to dip back down into the lower to mid-teens on Friday for the South Island, with the cold southwesterlies reaching the North Island later the same day.
