The body found on Mount Maunganui last night is that of 37-year-old Stephen Tracey who went missing from the area in late September, says Tauranga Police.

Stephen's body was found in an area of dense bush approximately 50m from a walking track. A member of the public using the track contacted police last night.

Stephen was reported missing in late September.

There are no suspicious circumstances and the matter has been referred to the Coroner.

Mr Tracey's family have been notified and our sincere condolences are with his family at this difficult time, says police Communications Manager Kim Perks.
