UPDATED: Seddon Ave has now been reopened between Baber and Victoria streets following this morning's crash.

No major injuries have been reported after a car and truck carrying gas bottles collided just after 11am.

The Waihi Volunteer Fire Brigade spent this afternoon clearing the road and finished the task within the last hour.

As a precaution the female driver of the car was taken to hospital for a medical assessment.

Waihi locals are being warned that Seddon Ave has been closed between Baber and Victoria streets following a vehicle crash.

Police say the accident occurred just after 11am today and involved a car and a truck carrying gas bottles.

"Only minor injuries are reported, however the road will be closed for several hours while the fire service and contractors make the truck safe," says police.

Traffic diversions are in place.
