Smaller, disadvantaged communities in the region are being encouraged to apply for the Government's Drinking-Water Subsidy Scheme to help improve their drinking water supply systems.
The scheme targets disadvantaged communities and areas with a population of less than 5000 people.
Smaller communities are being encouraged to apply for a new Government scheme.
And within the Bay of Plenty and Lakes regions, the scheme hopes to galvanise communities keen to improve their drinking water supply, with a yearly allocation of $10 million dollars available.
Eligibility for the scheme includes communities with a deprivation index of seven and above and where the water supply will serve a permanent population of between 25 and 5000 people.
All applications will be prioritised and ranked, and funding allocated accordingly.
Applications need to be received by Toi Te Ora – Public Health Service before December 20, 2014 so that they can be forwarded to the Ministry of Health for assessment.
Application forms can be found at: www.ttophs.govt.nz/drinking_water
For more information about the scheme and how to apply for a subsidy, contact Bay of Plenty Technical Officer for Drinking Water, Raelyn Rika at: raelyn.rika@bopdhb.govt.nz or call: 07 306 0953.

This is not about water but about petrol. How come when the price per barrel has dropped 25% and our dollar's move is less than 3% that we are still paying a crazy high price for petrol. Oil companies are ripping us off.

Stop putting nasty chemicals in the water, chemicals like fluoride that as a minimum rot the teeth of the children and do harm to who knows what else.
