A look at the new Pyes Pa School

Mayor Stuart Crosby and Tauranga MP Simon Bridges were among a handful of invited guests who got to have a look around the new Pyes Pa School today.

Today was the informal opening of the ACG School and to show people the school will be ready to open next year, says principal Chris Cottell-Mayhew.

'All the furniture will be arriving on that day and the school will be officially handed over.

Because the site looks like it's still under construction a limited number of people were invited along today to see the progress that people can't see from the outside.

'Basically we wanted to say we're here and we wanted to officially welcome Mayor Stuart Crosby, Tauranga MP Simon Bridges, Priority One CEO Andrew Coca and our kaumatua Peri Kohu.”

Chris says today was also a chance for the ACG team who haven't already been on site to have a look around the new school.

When the school is ready to open it will have eight classrooms, a science lab and another three or four classrooms.

Chris says the library will be situated in one of the classrooms.

'One of the classrooms won't be divided so it will be like a gymnasium and we will have our assemblies and things like that there.”
