Changeable spring weather continues

The Bay of Plenty will see a brief break in the squally rain seen on Wednesday before another downpour hits the region this weekend.

The MetService is forecasting fine spells and westerly winds for today, with tomorrow looking pretty much the same.

The Bay will see a brief respite in the rain.

Meteorologist Elke Louw says another front is on its way for the South Island and will move its way up the North Island.

'It should be much weaker with showers, chiefly in the west and some windy spots in eastern places,” says Elke.

'The spring weather is expected to continue as we head into the weekend. More rain is expected with strong to gale northwesterlies first arriving in the south, then moving north.”

Elke says the front is expected to weaken as it head towards the North Island at the beginning of next week
