Paeroa police say they shot a man on SH2 ‘a number of times' following a domestic dispute at Kerepehi near Ngatea last night.
The shooting happened about 10pm. Police had been called to a domestic dispute and an occupant from the house left in a vehicle. He was stopped by police on SH2 where police were fired upon, say Paeroa police today.

The man was shot several times. He was flown to Waikato hospital where he is said today to be in a stable condition.
The highway was closed overnight and will remain closed while the necessary scene investigations begin in daylight.
State Highway 2 remains closed three kms east Of Ngatea between Orchard East Rd And Wharepoa Rd.
Diversions: Northbound Traffic use Wharepoa Road, left onto Hauraki Road and left onto Orchard East Road to join Sh2. Southbound traffic use Orchard East Road then right onto Hauraki Road until it meets Sh2.

Anyone who shoots at a Police officer is attempting to murder or seriously injure them and deserves all they get. Hope the Police are all OK.
