A 55-year-old Matakana man was flown to hospital by the Tauranga based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter last night.
The helicopter was called at 6.30pm. The man needed specialist medical attention for breathing difficulties.

Matakana Island first responders tended to the man before the helicopter paramedic provided medical intervention.
Because the man was on an Island and the complications of his medical condition, the rescue helicopter was called to fly him to Tauranga hospital. His condition was described as moderate.
