Where’s the promised resignation?

After much justifiable pressure put on to, and subsequent dodging and darting by TCC councillor and NZ First list MP, Clayton Mitchell finally stated categorically before election day that if he were elected to Parliament he would resign TCC. He hasn't yet. Why didn't the NZ First Tauranga Electoral Committee get him to commit to this promise at selection time or choose somebody else?

There were other candidates and the selection committee, after years of experience, know you can't always get firm commitments from candidates before selection.

The Selection Committee had their chance and wilfully did nothing. Clayton is doing our beloved party irreparable harm. Moreover, selection of a sitting city ward councillor was plain stupid.
