Dumping of rain forecast

The Bay of Plenty looks set to get some rain this weekend as a slow moving front moves over the North Island.

The MetService says there is still considerable uncertainty regarding the position and intensity of the front but it's likely to bring significant amounts of rain.

There is a moderate chance of heavy rain for the Bay of Plenty during the weekend.

'There is a moderate chance, 40 per cent or two in five chance, the accumulations will reach warning amounts at some stage during this period over the upper North Island, that is from Taranaki across the centre high country to the Bay of Plenty northwards,” says a statement from the weather organisation.

'The front affecting the North Island should move away on Monday but another front is likely to move east onto the south of the South Island.”
