Police examine flyover crash

Police are investigating the cause of the three car nose-to-tail crash which delayed rush hour traffic on Hewletts Road yesterday.

Three cars crashed at the beginning of the Hewletts Road flyover at around 5pm.

A crash on the Hewletts Road flyover briefly delayed rush hour traffic overnight.

The incident blocked one lane for a while, but traffic was still flowing around the crash.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says there were no injuries and speed was not a factor in the crash.

'It appears a vehicle has failed to stop short and run into the back of a utility. The utility has then been pushed into another vehicle.”

Ian says police investigations are continuing.
