Name released for Waihi cyclist

UPDATED Thursday: The 77-year-old man who died after being hit by a car in Waihi two weeks has been named as Arthur Ross.

Arthur died in Waikato Hospital overnight on Tuesday, from serious injuries sustained in the accident on September 6.

Police confirm the man died in hospital, after he was struck by a four door Mazda car.

The crash happened at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Johnson Road just before 12pm.

Arthur was airlifted to Waikato Hospital but his condition continued to deteriorate in the last two weeks.

'The Waikato Serious Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances leading to the crash,” says a statement from police.

People with information, who haven't spoken with police yet, are asked to contact their nearest police station.
