Hot pools close for November

Regular users of the Mount Hot Pools will have to look elsewhere for somewhere to soak and relax during November with the facility closing for general maintenance.

Bay Leisure and Events Limited announced the 40-year old facility will be closed to public from November 3-28.

The massage clinic will also close from November 3-11 before reopening.

Bay Leisure and Events chief executive Gary Dawson says the closure is to allow 'sprucing and tidying up”.

During this time contractors will be re-grouting all the pools, painting the toddlers' pool, upgrading the private pool lighting, general venue painting, fibre-glassing pool inlets, replacing the electrical switchboard and servicing the sea water pumps in the pump room.

Gary says November is a good time for maintenance at the facility, with an annual patronage of more than 220,000 people, because it is deemed one of the quieter months ahead of the imminent tourist season.

'The majority of the work requires the pools to be empty. November is a good time because it's before the Christmas break which is a high season.”

Regular hot pool users have been notified of the closure, and advised their membership provides access to Bay Venues' other aquatic facilities during the closure period.

'We appreciate that the pools are a significant attraction to the area and this maintenance work is necessary to ensure that we continue to present a high quality facility to all our users.”

The hot pools will re-open on November 29.
