Powerlines down in Papamoa

Bell Road in Papamoa is currently blocked and traffic is stalled after powerlines have come down across the road.

Northern Fire Communications shift manager Scott Osmond says the pole is lying across the road and firefighters are waiting for the power company representative to arrive.

He says they don't know how the pole has fallen down.

"There is nothing much we can do. The pole hasn't come down as a result of a crash or anything. It's natural causes, whatever they may be."

Didn't a powerline come down and land on a guys vehicle last month down Bell Road? He said the base of the pole was rotten but the power company said there was nothing wrong with it or any others. Seems a bit strange

Bit of a worry.....

You might expect a cat to run out in front of you while out driving but a power pole now that's serious. lucky it didn't collect a car or two!!!
