SH2 closed for pavement repairs

A section of State Highway 2, between Welcome Bay Road and Domain Road, will be closed from 7pm to 6am this week to allow for earthwork and pavement operations as part of the Tauranga Eastern Link.

The closures are expected to continue until Friday, depending on if the weather stays fine.

Night time road closures are planned for SH2, near Papamoa, this week.

The NZ Transport Agency says detours will be in place for east-bound traffic, those heading from Tauranga to Te Puke and west-bound traffic, people heading from Te Puke to Tauranga.

The detours will be down Bell, Tara and Parton roads.

The NZTA asks people to be patient and drive carefully in the area.

Why do transport people persist in calling Roads "Pavements". In USA pavements are roads in NZ pavements are where people walk. Cars drive on Roads.

The noise down Tara is diabolical. They have signs about air/engine brakes, but the trucks aren't seeing it. Poor rest home on the corner of Bell Road. :(
