Roadworks on Sh2 near Domain Rd

The New Zealand Transport Agency is advising motorists from tonight a series of traffic management actions will take place on State Highway 2 between Domain Rd and Welcome Bay Rd for night and day works.

NZTA says the traffic management is to allow for construction of the Te Puke approach leg into the new Domain Rd interchange roundabout.

From 6pm tonight to 6am tomorrow morning the site will have a manual stop/go and 30km/h temporary speed restriction in place.

The NZTA says each day from tomorrow – Monday, September 1 – between 6am and 7pm both the west-bound and east-bound lanes will be moved to one side.

Plus, each night from tomorrow through to Thursday, September 4, between 7pm and 6am a manual stop/go and a 30km/h temporary speed restriction will be in place.

Also from tomorrow the State Highway 2/Domain Rd intersection slip lane will be closed between 9am and 6pm to allow pavement construction to occur.

'The slip lane will be closed to all Tauranga-bound traffic with traffic diverted via the SH2/ Domain Rd roundabout,” says NZTA.

NZTA is also giving advance notice of significant works, which will see the State Highway 2/ Domain Rd intersection close.

'In early-September, to allow earthwork and pavement operations to construct a section of the new roundabout, a series of closures of SH2 with detours in place will be used at various times – full details are to be advised.”

Kairua Rd will also have a temporary closure in late-September, to allow the complete re-construction of a section of Kairua Rd.

At the time Kairua Rd will be closed for a period of nine days. 'A detour via SH2 and Welcome Bay Road will be in place during this time.”
