United Future hosts angler meeting

United Future is next week hosting a public meeting in Tauranga to discuss the party's hunting and fishing policies.

The party is encouraging keen hunters and anglers to attend the meeting at Tauranga Sport Fishing Club on Wednesday night, when it will promote its policies for protecting Kiwis' rights and opportunity to hunt and fish.

Party president and outdoors spokesperson Alan Simmons says every New Zealanders' right to fish and hunt will be safeguarded by the party if its returned to Parliament this election.

'It is the hard work of United Future that's ensured our outdoors have not been forgotten in Wellington.

'We have seen the continued degradation of our waterways and the depletion of our fishing stocks and this must be brought to a stop.”

United Future's outdoor policies include cleaning up the country's rivers and lakes, regulation for ‘recreational only' fish species – such as snapper and kahawai – that wouldn't be accessible to commercial operators, and implementing a moratorium on the use of 1080 poison.

United Future's Hunting and Fishing Policy meeting is on September 3, from 6pm at the Tauranga Sport Fishing Club, 66 Keith Allen Drive, Sulphur Point.
