What's On Today? Rugby and footy

Good morning sunners, welcome to Saturday. Don't let the patchy weather get you down today – instead here's some events that might take your fancy and get you out of the house at the same time.

First up this morning is the Western Bay of Plenty JMC Junior Rugby Finals at Blake Park.

The first game – U10 Rangataua versus Mount Green – kicks off at Sir Gordan Tietjens Field at 8.30am.

At 9.40am U11 Papamoa Blue versus Te Puna, and U12 Katikati versus Greerton Marist Black kicks starts 11am. Then the U13 Te Puna versus Greerton Chargers games begins 12.20pm.

Otumoetai is celebrating 50 years of football today, with games and the unveiling of two bench-seats.

The club is inviting locals to Fergusson Park to today's watch football games, starting with junior grade games this morning.

In the afternoon the BaySportMed Bowl and Cup finals kick off 12pm and seeing Old Blues' Bay 2 versus Tauranga City United's Bay 1, followed by Otumoetai Bay 2 up against Te Puke United Bay 1 in the cup final.

From 2pm the club will unveil two bench-seats to be installed next to the number one pitch.

'Saturday is all about recognising the fact that we've been around Otumoetai for 50 years,” says president Richard Kluit.
