Public picks: Key or Cunliffe

It was a battle of the political heavyweights in the TVNZ arena overnight in the first round of the head-to-head debates in the lead up to the 20 September election.

In charge was Seven Sharp's Mike Hosking, who attempted to keep control of the two major party leaders – National's John Key and Labour Party's David Cunliffe.

Some say it was a close race, others say Cunliffe was the underdog who fought a tough fight.

SunLive took to the streets to find out what Tauranga people thought of the debate, and who came out on top.
