There have been two minor earthquakes near the White Island volcano this morning, which may have been felt onshore.
GeoNet reports the first one was magnitude 2.7 at 9.25am, and located five kilometres south east of the island at a depth of 5km.

The second quake was a magnitude 3.2 quake at 9.29am, located five kilometres east of White Island at a depth of six kilometres.
