Today looks to be a perfect day for cricket at the Bay Oval.
The White Ferns are set for their warm-up match against some of the rising stars of Bay of Plenty cricket in what will be an unusual sight of cricket being played at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui in August.
While today's match at 11am is a vital part of the White Ferns Caribbean tour preparations – the Bay of Plenty Invitation team, who will provide the opposition at the Bay Oval encounter, will be looking to show early season form to impress the Bay of Plenty selection panels.
SunLive will be heading along to the game, so keep checking back for photos later today.
Other events happening in Tauranga today include the SPCA Cupcake day. This is where bakers cupcakes will be judge at the SPCA shelter in Greerton and the winner will be chosen.
Money raised from this event will go towards the SPCA.
