Hospice fundraiser nets $11k

More than $11,000 will be given to Waipuna Hospice following a charity auction at the Harcourts Auction Rooms yesterday evening.

The auction was sponsored by the four Tauranga chapters of the Business Network International, and supported by Tauranga law firm, Lyon O'Neale Arnold, and V.I.P. Home Services Bay of Plenty.

Waipuna Hospice fundraising manager Trish Rae, Kelly Cotter of Lyon O'Neale Arnold and Sheila Logan of V.I.P. Home Services.

Spokesman Kelly Cotter, a solicitor with Lyon O'Neale Arnold, says the amount raised far exceeded expectations and is more than double what was raised at a similar event two years ago.

'It is an amazing result, for an amazing charity,” he says.

'We would like to thank everyone who supported the event, both those who donated items and those who bid on them.”

More than $13,000 in luxury accommodation, leisure activities, art and other items were auctioned, raising more than $9000.

A further $1800 was raised by private BNI donations, while raffle tickets and gold coin entry fees made up the balance.
