Seven people are being treated by Edgecumbe firefighters after a car crashed into a tree on State Highway 2, near 520 Awakeri Road.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Paul Radden says two crews from Egdecumbe are in attendance and are giving first aid to the seven patients.
A car is reported to have hit a tree on SH2.
He says they are waiting for St John Paramedics to arrive at the scene.
One person is also reported to be in serious condition.
There are no reports of road closures, but the road is down to one lane.
