EastPack appoints new directors

Former Zespri chairman and professional company director John Loughlin and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) executive Mark Giles have been appointed to the EastPack Board.

The new independent directors replace retiring independent directors Maurice Kidd and Mike Ashby.

EastPack Chairman Ray Sharp says the new independent directors bring many attributes and experience to EastPack and he is excited to have them join the EastPack board.

'John has a very good understanding of all aspects of the kiwifruit industry, as well as operational, management and governance experience at a high level across a range of industries.

'Mark has a wide range of governance experience both in New Zealand and internationally in a range of industries and in ICT. He is strong in strategic thinking, leadership and analysis.”

Ray also paid tribute to retiring independent directors Maurice Kidd and Mike Ashby.

'Maurice and Mike have been extremely beneficial to the quality of our governance, our planning and guidance in our growth during the last seven years.

'Both have contributed hugely in their role as independent directors and have given generously of their time and wisdom.”

EastPack packed 24.5m Class 1 trays this season, after harvesting the crop in record time. The company expects to pack more than 28m Class 1 trays next season.

EastPack announced a $1.5m operating profit (after paying rebates) for the financial year ending December 31, 2013 – the first annual result since its merger with Satara in March 2013.
