Suspect list in Video Ezy robbery

Detectives are drawing up a list of possible suspects they believe could be linked to the armed robbery of a Mount Maunganui video store.

But no information has come from the public following the release of CCTV footage of the two men who robbed Mount Maunganui Video Ezy at gunpoint last Saturday.

CCTV footage of the two men captured robbing the Owens Place Video Ezy at gunpoint.

Tauranga Police Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner says police are continuing to consider a number of people in the Western Bay of Plenty area believed to be potential suspects.

'A number of individual's names have been provided by police staff as possibilities and we are working through this at the moment,” says Greg.

'We are still keen if anyone recognises the photos, the persons or the firearms to make contact with us.”

It is understood two men entered the premises on Owens Place about 7pm July 26 armed with a pistol. The CCTV footage shows a man with his face covered and another wearing a beanie and gloves.

Greg says the men robbed the video store at gunpoint, making off with the cash till, and are believed to have run along the railway tracks and crossed Maunganui Road, opposite the soccer grounds.

From police investigations it is understood both men were also seen around the Bayfair roundabout with Girven Road prior and after the robbery.

Anybody with information is encouraged to contact the Mt Maunganui Police on phone 575 3143.
