Armed robbers identity sought

Police investigating the armed robbery of Video Ezy at Owens Place are hoping to identify those responsible by released CCTV footage.

The footage shows a man with his face covered and another wearing a beanie and gloves entering the shop about 7.10pm on Saturday.


Police are hoping by releasing CCTV footage people will be able to help identify those responsible for the armed robbery.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner says two men robbed the video store at gunpoint and are believed to have run along the railway tracks and crossed Maunganui Road, opposite the soccer grounds.

'They crossed into the soccer ground that connects with Links Ave, the trail was lost there.

'We are appealing to any members of the public that may recognise the people or the clothing in the attached photos.”

Greg says they are keen to apprehend those responsible to prevent any further robberies occurring.

'Recent events around the country show shopkeepers can be at risk of serious harm and death during these types of robberies.”

Hopefully the video shops videos are better quality than their CCTV.
