Community work for benefit fraudster

A Tauranga man who defrauded Work and Income New Zealand of $2023.15 has been ordered to pay the money back in full.

A Tauranga man who defrauded Work and Income New Zealand will have to pay his debt back at $15 a week.

Thomas David Eynon, 33, was also sentenced to 100 hours' community work when he appeared in Tauranga District Court on Wednesday.

Eynon, a sickness beneficiary, was sentenced after earlier admitting one count of using a document for pecuniary advantage and one count of providing misleading information to obtain a benefit.

The charges arose from him dishonestly completing a change of address and accommodation cost forms.

Eynon will have to pay the debt back at $15 a week.
