Kolohe Kai to play Brewers

Hawaiian sensation Kolohe Kai will bring its musical stylings to Tauranga next month when they perform at Brewers Bar in Mount Maunganui on August 13.

Roman De Peralta, Jasmine Moikeha, Kolomona Ku, Kahale Morales, Luke Daddario, Travis Manabe and Eston Ravey will be touring New Zealand as part of their Kolohe Kai Paradise Tour.

Kolohe Kai is coming to Tauranga next month.

Lead vocalist/song writer and founder Roman says the group has been together for five years.

'Kolohe Kai is a band I started in high school. Because I was only 15 when I started writing, the music and lyrics are naturally youthful and energetic.

'Our style of island reggae music has a pop twist to it and is never designed to make a person feel low. The upbeat positive vibes need to be infectious, so people can be encouraged and feel good.”

Roman says people can expect to have fun at their shows.

'Our shows are very lively. We engage the crowd to feel a part of the show by a lot of audience participation.

'We have been working very hard to make this tour's performance very different from the last two New Zealand tours.

'The fans will definitely hear most of their favourite songs by us and some new ones off the just-released album entitled ‘Paradise'.”

This is not the first time Kolohe Kai has performed in New Zealand. The Hawaiian band was last here in May, and Roman says they've also had the privilege of co-headlining the One Love Festival with Sean Kingston.

'On behalf of the band I would have to say that we are super excited for this tour. We took a break a couple of years ago from the music scene, not expecting to return to New Zealand and Australia.

'I would like all our New Zealand fans to know that we sincerely apologise if we broke their hearts when we broke up the band. Although it may have felt negative and a turn for the worst, the time away really revived the true inspiration of Kolohe Kai.” Roman says he got to step away from the stage and see life in a more realistic and relatable way.

He says this allowed him to write more songs that can positively affect people.

'Now with a brand new album to share with all our loyal supporters, we are so amped. I personally feel honoured to get this opportunity to have a tour there again.

'We are coming your way this August to share a new positive album and bring the aloha of paradise to you once again. We hope to see you there.”

Kolohe Kai is presented by Pato Entertainment.
