Motorists travelling between Tauranga and Rotorua using Pyes Pa Rd are being advised to expect delays as a broken down truck is blocking one lane of State Highway 36.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the truck has broken down about a 1km past Pyes Pa School heading towards Rotorua.

A truck is blocking one lane of State Highway 36, just past Pyes Pa School.

'It's only blocking one lane but some of the vehicles behind are getting impatient and are trying to attempt to pass. It's really quite dangerous.

'There are other motorists trying to divert traffic.”

Police have been called and are heading to the scene.
