Vibrant lights illuminate night sky

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Greerton overnight to see a light show like no other.

While it may have been a bit chilly, fine weather set the stage for the annual winter IlluminArt Festival in the Greerton Village Square.

Vibrant displays of lights, along with other artistic talents of residents made for an entertaining night.

Greerton Village Mainstreet manager Victoria Thomas says this year there was more art, more fire and more magic.

She says the evening was great for everyone involved.

Highlights include fire sculptures and fire performers – including fire breathers, fire jugglers and fire poi, says Victoria.

'Kids loved the illuminated face painting, static lantern display, UV light dance party and the magical fairy light tunnel.

'Along with the visual extravaganza, visitors enjoyed the live musical performances from Tauranga Samba.”
