Deja vu in women's final

With nothing separating Arataki and Waikite so far this season the Bay of Plenty Women's Rugby final looks certain to be a match with the potential to go down to the wire.

In a re-match of last season's inaugural final, Waikite claiming final honours, the two sides return to the showpiece in similar fashion with unbeaten records.

Defending champions Waikite face Arataki in the Bay of Plenty Women's Rugby final this Sunday.

And if a 19-all draw between the sides in round robin play is anything to go by the match is sure to produce a mouth-watering fixture at Arataki Park this Sunday.

Arataki head coach Mark Latimer says the side is looking forward to the match and the heartbreak in 2013 is sure to be at the fore front of their minds.

'We have some strong runners and the whole team has been working hard. The team work has been excellent to see,” says Latimer.

'We are excited about the chance to win the championship and make up for our loss in the final last year."

Waikite coach Eliza Stephens is pleased with a much more structure preparation in what is going to be a big challenge away from home.

'The teams are very even, especially with both sides having players in the Volcanix,” says Latimer.

'I've had some good feedback from other people about what they have seen from our team in the last few games and on what we could work on as a team, which has been helpful.”

This week the side has joined forces with the club's Mens A team during training allowing them to pick up a number of techniques and body position skills.

'All these little things we are putting in place this week will help the girls to improve as players for the game this weekend. It going to be a very exciting game - we're ready to take on this challenge."

The final is to be played at Arataki Park this Sunday starting at 1pm.
