Police can now confirm the man who died in the quad bike accident yesterday was 38-year-old Sonny Peke.

About 12.35pm on Thursday, police and ambulance were called to a single vehicle crash on Hood Street, Whanganui.

The rider of the quad bike received head injuries and was taken to Whanganui hospital in a serious condition where he has later passed away.

The family of Mr Peke are being supported by police staff during this very difficult time.

The Police Serious Crash Unit is investigating.

Police would like to hear from any member of the public who saw the incident on Hood St.

Police are also keen to hear from anyone who saw Sonny or know of his movements prior to the accident.
