Icy roads cause two crashes

Drivers are warned of icy roads following two early morning crashes on the Pyes Pa Road.

A car has gone into a bank near the bridge in the gully past the school, says Sergeant Wayne Hunter.

The driver a man in his mid 40s has been transported to Tauranga hopsital with chest pains, reports Tauranga St John ambulance.

The driver of a second vehicle that went off the road nearby was not injured.

Roading contractors are now at the scene spreading grit on te road. Police have sent a patrol car up to the top of SH29 over the Kaimai range to check conditions on that road.
