Youthful Anzac Day thoughts

As New Zealand remembers its fallen soldiers 99 years on from the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps landing at Gallipoli it is the youthful presence of attendees continuing to gain praise.

Today thousands of people throughout the Bay of Plenty are commemorating the 18,000 New Zealanders and 60,000 Australians who lost their lives during the battle of Gallipoli.

RSA officials are rapt with the strong attendance numbers in both dawn and civic services but the main talking point is the increase in younger generations.

SunLive talked to children at the Tauranga RSA's dawn service on what Anzac Day means to them.

Getting kids involved

I have to say I was very disappointed in the memorial park service, my dad and kids march in every year wearing my pops medals from ww2, there was no opportunity to do this this year, and they were disappoined. I really think the organisers should take the involvement of the younger generations more seriously, it will be them celebrating it in the future....
