A new kindergarten is to be built in Papamoa East on land recently purchased by the Tauranga Region Kindergartens.

The land is at the corner of Golden Sands Drive and Wairakei Avenue, opposite Golden Sands School.

'The area has seen rapid population growth, particularly of families with young children, and surveys in the area have shown a significant demand for kindergarten,” says Natasha Brokenshire, the convenor of the Kindergarten Establishment Committee.

'The site was chosen because of its close proximity to the school as it is intended to develop a close relationship with them to ensure smooth transitions for children,” says Natasha.

An Open Day will be held on site on Saturday, 25 May from 10am to 2pm so the community can see the plans, provide views on the development and register an interest in either becoming involved in the development for their children to attend.

The kindergarten is intended to open in Term 2 2015.
