Woman’s life on stolen bracelet

A Tauranga woman is pleading for the return of her $2500 bracelet, which she says was taken from Tauranga Hospital.

Carol-Ann Hughes was at Tauranga Hospital on April 4 visiting her husband, who had suffered crush injuries in an accident, when she took the bracelet off in the toilets.

Carol-Ann says her bracelet was stolen from the toilets at Tauranga Hospital on April 4
.

'I washed my hands and took the bracelet off to wash it as well, and put it on the sink.

'I was on antibiotics at the time and got dizzy. So I washed my face and left the toilets,” says Carol-Ann.

'I remembered the bracelet when I got the elevators on the ground floor of the hospital.”

By the time Carol-Ann returned to the toilets, near the main reception, the bracelet was gone.

'I asked at reception and asked the security staff but no one had seen anything. We went through the security footage and saw me leaving the toilets and three women going in and coming out.”

Carol-Ann believes the bracelet was stolen, as it hasn't been handed in.

'I've reported it stolen to police. But it's not the monetary value, it's the sentimental value the bracelet has that is breaking my heart.”

Carol-Ann was in an accident a couple of years ago which has caused her memory loss problems.

She says the bracelet has charms on it marking significant moments in her life, right from when she met her husband to when their three children were born.

'I made the bracelet myself, as I am a jewellery maker. It's sterling silver with three rings to symbolise my wedding rings, two hearts which are on my mother's headstone, and the number three because we have three children.”

She says the bracelet also helped her write a book on her life after she lost her memory.

'It has a pussy cat on it, along with an angel.

'The loss of it is killing purely on the sentimental value of it.”

Carol-Ann asks anyone with information about the bracelet to contact her on 0275210640 or her Aunty, Patricia Habib, on 544 8595.

'I can't offer any big reward but I can make someone some jewellery or something for its return.”

Surely the pictures of the 3 women can be published to help return the bracelet. I hope karma will kick in if its not returned. We lost a substantial amount of money at the hospital a couple of years ago and never got it back. So hope the low life that took it gives it back. If not, hope it brings you misery.
