Invasion accused denied bail

One of two men accused of a home invasion in Papamoa has had his bail application denied.

Paul Toeke, 41, appeared briefly in Tauranga District Court yesterday where his bail application was denied.

Toeke, from Arataki, and co-accused Kingi Ranapia, 35, of Mount Maunganui, have both been in custody since being arrested on March 7.

The men are jointly charged with aggravated burglary - entering the Karewa Parade house with intent to commit an offence, while armed with a hammer.

Toeke was remanded in custody for a case review, along with Ranapia, on May 6.
