UPDATE 2.15PM: Both lanes of traffic at the State Highway 2 intersection with Rangiuru Road are now open following a crash between a truck and car this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the crash east of Te Puke about 1.45pm.

Acting Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says initial reports suggested a person was trapped in one of the vehicles.

But police at the scene have now confirmed no one was trapped.

'All lanes are open, there no injuries sustained by anyone – and in the end it has been found to be a minor crash.”

The car is reported to have become wedged between a truck and barrier. It has since been towed from the scene.

Firefighters were initially called, but later stood down.
