Rudd appeals employment ruling

Tauranga restaurant owner and AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is appealing an Employment Relations Authority ruling for him to pay more than $72,000 to three former staff unjustifiably fired from Phil's Place.

In a decision released last month, the Employment Relations Authority ordered Phil's Place to pay Alice Kiwa $4872, Janelle Kiwa $4536 and Hayden Clark $9692 for loss of wages.

The restaurant was also ordered to pay the three applicants $15,000 each for distress and $8500 in costs – a total of $72,600.

Following the decision, Phil's Place has 28 days to appeal.

Phil Rudd has filed an appeal, with a date for a hearing yet to be set, reports NZ Herald.
