Tauriko crash: medical factor

Police investigating a two car crash on State Highway 2 at Tauriko earlier today believe a medical condition may have sparked the crash.

A grey Holden Commodore crashed into the back of a grey Holden Astra near the intersection of Gargan Road about 11.10am.

Rubbish was littered on the side of the road before the Commodore came to rest in the bushes. Photo: Andrew Campbell.

The Commodore then left the road crashing through a rubbish pile before coming to a stop in the bushes off Gargan Road.

Acting Senior Sergeant Wayne Hunter says although nothing has been confirmed, it appears the driver suffered some sort of medical condition.

'There were no brake marks from the vehicle which crashed into the back of another vehicle. 'The man was taken to hospital with moderate injuries.”

Wayne says no one else was injured in the crash.

The crash caused the road to be closed for a short period of time as police worked to remove the crashed vehicles from the road.
