Osteopath admits more charges

A Katikati resident jailed last year for sexually assaulting patients when he was working as an osteopath in Gisborne has admitted to more offences.

Richard James Davis, 54, appeared in Wellington's High Court today where he pleaded guilty to three charges of sexual violation and four of indecent assault, involving six patients.

Fairfax Media reports Justice David Collins sentenced Davis to seven years and seven months' jail, to be served concurrently with his previous eight-year sentenced imposed last October, without adding to the length of Davis' time in jail.

Last year a jury found Davis guilty of indecencies against eight mature female patients.

At the time the judge said Davis made a calculated decision to use his role as a health professional to get the victims into a position where he could sexually assault them.

All the patients had been naked or partly naked and prone on the treatment table.

After the complaints Davis moved from Gisborne and settled in Katikati.
