Papamoa park to remain open

Visitors to Papamoa Hills Regional Cultural Park are being asked to take extra care during the next six weeks as a forestry block on the property is harvested.

BOPRC land management manager for western region, Robyn Skelton, says the harvesting won't affect public walking tracks.

'The work is taking place in the north-western corner of the park, which is not one of the main public areas, but there will be extra traffic and heavy machinery around which people should be aware of,” says Robyn.

'The affected areas will be fenced off and marked by signs identifying restricted access.”

Remediation of an old road to the 4.2 ha forestry block will begin on Wednesday morning, following a blessing at the site earlier this week, and harvesting is expected to be completed by the end of April.

'The rest of the park is still open so we hope people will continue to make the most of this terrific late-summer weather and visit one of the region's more beautiful spots,” says Robyn.
