Career expo inspiring thousands

Thousands of students are busy pondering their future career aspirations after attending the Tauranga Rotary Careers Expo and Priority One Future Focus Business Showcase today.

More than 2500 secondary school students from across the Bay of Plenty visited the expo's opening day at ASB Baypark – a turnout Priority One senior projects manager Greg Simmons says is 'absolutely brilliant”.

'There's been a good level of enquiry, good questions from the students – it's going really well.

'Certainly from both the businesses there as part of the Priority One Business Showcase and all of the training providers there as part of the Rotary Careers Expo, the feedback from them seems to be really positive.”

Tomorrow is the last day of the expo and doors will open to the public from 9.30am-3.30pm.

The expo features exhibitors from throughout New Zealand, including universities, career guidance councillors, trade industry training organisations, professional bodies and employers. It is part of Western Bay @ Work – a month-long series of activities and events focusing on career and training opportunities in the Western Bay of Plenty.

'It's not just for students, it's really for anyone looking to change direction in their career or interested in what the careers in the Bay are like.”

This is a real credit to Priority One and Rotary- its SO GOOD to hear about normal youth who want to be educated and do well in life instead of all the focus on the taggers/drug takers etc etc. The Future of the Bay is in good hands with events like this:)
