Bay coaches offered tips

With notepads at the ready coaches across the Bay of Plenty are invited to attend the inaugural BOPRU Coaching Conference on August 25.

Held on the morning of the Steamers first ITM Cup home game, the seminar, partly funded through Sport BOP and organised with the help of the NZRU, includes four presentations relating to different aspects of coaching.

Rugby coaches are invited to the inaugural Bay of Plenty Rugby Union Coaching Conference on August 25.

One of the presentations will explain and exhibit the latest advancements in rugby technology, including smartphone applications and video analysis, while another will include speakers from the Chiefs coaching staff.

'It's another opportunity for our coaches to get some development outside of the normal New Zealand coaching courses,” says player and coach development manager Chad Tuoro.

The course, running from 9am-2pm at Oceanside Resort & Twin Towers, Mount Maungaui leads up to the 2.45pm kick-off against Hawkes Bay at ASB Baypark.

The conference costs $15 for members of the union's coaching academy and $30 for others.

There are 35 places available, with the price of admission covering light refreshments and a ticket to the ITM Cup match.
