Guilty plea in Greerton stabbing

A Tauranga man has admitted to stabbing another man in a heated argument in Greerton last month.

Joshua Graham Pratt-Keatley, 27, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and assault on a child in Tauranga District Court today.

The charges stem from an incident on June 5 when Pratt-Keatley got into an altercation with another man at a Rawhiti Street property in Greerton.

Pratt-Keatley admitted to stabbing the other man in the upper body leaving him to wounds requiring medical treatment.

The man was taken to Tauranga Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

The assault on a child charge stems from an incident in Waihi on June 14 where Pratt-Keatley admitted to assaulting a 13-month-old boy.

The details of the second incident are suppressed.

During today's court appearance, Pratt-Keatley's lawyer Tony Rickard-Simms requested a section.38 report under the Mental Health Act to be prepared ahead of his client's sentencing.

Judge Alayne Wills agreed to the report to accompany a pre-sentencing report.

Pratt-Keatley was remanded on bail until his sentencing on September 6.
