Man stable after stabbing

A man is in Tauranga Hospital in a stable condition after suffering stab wounds to the stomach following an incident in Welcome Bay on Tuesday afternoon.

The 24-year-old man was taken from a house in Mamaku Rise at the top of Waitaha Road to hospital with stab wounds to the abdomen.


A man was taken to Tauranga Hospital with stab wounds from a property in Welcome Bay.

Bay of Plenty District Health Board communications manager Diana Marriot says the man is in a stable condition in a ward today.

Police and St John Paramedics were called to a house around 4.45pm.

Acting Sergeant Scott Merritt says St John Ambulance paramedics transported the man to hospital at which time he was alert and talking.

He says police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.
